Regular viewers of WNEM TV5’s evening newscasts are familiar with this lovely lady they invite into their homes Monday through Friday at 5, 6 and 11pm. We thought you’d like to know a little bit more about her!

Originally from the Northeast, Meg came to mid-Michigan in 2014 after graduating from the University of Missouri’s award-winning journalism school and earning her stripes with three years of smalltown reporting for mid-Missouri’s NBC affiliate, KOMU.

If she’s not chasing down a story, Meg the “foodie” can be found in the kitchen whipping up new recipes, finding exciting new eateries, or out in her Jeep exploring all this beautiful state has to offer. She also finds great personal reward in her volunteer work with Impact Designs, a program under Rescue Ministries of Mid-Michigan in Saginaw and Bay City, helping with interior design and furnishing of rental homes for people leaving a shelter to live independently.

When she came to TV5, Meg not only found a community that loves her, she also found a husband – former on-air reporter, Andrew Keller. The couple married in 2021 (after a COVID delay) and they live in Frankenmuth with “the cutest little mutt” named Sandy.

Meg graciously agreed to answer our seven questions … enjoy!

1. Who has most inspired your career path?

The late Professor Kent Collins was a dear friend and my mentor at the Missouri School of Journalism.

2. What is the best thing about your job at TV5?

Helping people in our community – whether it’s getting the word out about a special event or bringing attention to a cause.

3. What’s the most beautiful place you’ve ever seen?

Andrew and I honeymooned at Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. One morning as the sun rose, a male lion strolled by just a few feet from our vehicle – took my breath away!

4. What is one weird fact or tidbit you still remember from high school?

“Fido,” a name often given to dogs, is derived from the Latin word “fidus” which means faithful, loyal and trusting.

5. What’s the most unusual thing you’ve ever eaten?

I tried a fish eyeball in the Bahamas. It was firmer than I thought it would be – I thought it would be more gummy! I was surprised that It didn’t have much flavor at all.

6. What song always gets you out on the dance floor?

“I Wanna Dance with Somebody” by Whitney Houston

7. If you had a WARNING label, what would it say?

“WARNING: This is NOT a morning person.” I guess it’s a good thing I don’t do a.m. news!
