What can you do to help make the world a better place? Be kind!

World Kindness Day is celebrated annually on November 13, according to awarenessdays.com. On this day, participants attempt to make the world a better place by celebrating and promoting good deeds and pledging acts of kindness, either as individuals or as an organization.

World Kindness Day was first launched in 1998 by The World Kindness Movement, an organization formed at a 1997 Tokyo conference of like-minded kindness organizations from around the world. There are currently over 28 nations involved in The World Kindness Movement which is not affiliated with any religion or political movement. The mission of the World Kindness Movement and World Kindness Day is to create a kinder world by inspiring individuals and nations towards greater kindness.

There are many ways you can celebrate World Kindness Day, according to randomactsof kindness.org. Compliment someone — family members, a co-worker or someone you don’t even know!  Dedicate 24 hours to spreading positivity on social media. Leave a generous tip. Send flowers to a friend. Donate to a charity. Pick up the tab from someone behind you in line.  Remember, the power of kindness is in your hands. One kind word or a random act of kindness can change someone’s entire day!
