Flint Firebirds on Record-setting Win Streak

0

With a 5-3 victory over the Oshawa Generals on the road this past Sunday, the Flint Firebirds have extended their franchise best win streak to 10 games. The Firebirds find themselves just 2-points behind Saginaw for the lead in the OHL’s West Division. The Firebirds’ 66-points puts them in 4th place overall in the Western Conference, just 5-points away from conference leaders Kitchener (whom the Firebirds beat 5-3 in Flint during the current winning streak). The Firebirds play one more game on the road this Friday at rivals Saginaw – a huge game for both teams in their quest to win the West Division. Then, the team returns home this upcoming Saturday for a tilt against the Guelph Storm on Flint Tropics Night!

During the streak the Firebirds have been led by Captain Ty Dellandrea and Belarus native Evgeniy Oksentyuk, who the Firebirds chose this past summer in the CHL Import Draft. Oksentyuk was recently named the OHL “On the Run” Player of the Week for picking up 8-points over the past three games. Over the weekend, Connor Roberts secured victory on Friday over Eerie with an overtime goal while Jack Wismer scored a hat trick in the Firebirds’ victory 7-3 over Hamilton on Saturday.

The preseason goal of hosting a playoff series is in contention as the team enters the final stretch of the season.

Regardless of Friday night’s outcome in Saginaw, head out to the Dort Financial Event Center for Flint Tropics Night this Saturday, February 15 to cheer the Flint Firebirds on to victory over Guelph. Let’s sell-out the arena and show our support for Flint’s hockey team!
