Genesys Hosts First Annual Tree of Love Event

On December 2, cancer survivors and families of those who lost their fight against cancer gathered to remember loved ones and celebrate the lives of cancer survivors at the first Tree of Love Event. Hosted by Genesys Health Foundation in partnership with the Holly community, the event was held in the atrium of Genesys Regional Medical Center in Grand Blanc Township. The evening included music from the Holly Dickens Music Festival, a brief program, more entertainment from the Holly Dickens characters, and refreshments.

The Tree of Love is a 25-foot-tall tree created from 700 poinsettia plants, which has graced the hospital atrium beginning Thanksgiving weekend and will stand through the holidays.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from this fundraiser will help Genesys cancer patients who need financial assistance. Donations to the Tree of Love are used for medical equipment, transportation to and from medical appointments, private pay home care, a day of respite for the family, prescriptions and medical services not covered by insurance, and special funding for other needs (eg rent or mortgage payments, auto repairs, gas, utility payments).

To donate to the Tree of Love, visit www.genesyshealthfoundation.org/treeoflove or call the Genesys Health  Foundation at 810.606.6387. Genesys and the Holly community plan to make the Tree of Love fundraiser an annual event.
