Style in Full Bloom

I think it’s finally safe to pack away our winter jackets and enjoy spring and summer! Although the first day of spring is in March, we Michiganders know we can’t get our hopes up for nice weather until this time of year. It’s beautiful to see the trees and flowers come back to life, and your wardrobe should do the same.

It’s time to infuse your closet with vibrant colors and lighter tones to freshen up for spring. This season, designers were heavily influenced by the 1970s – that means bohemian silhouettes, platform and wedge shoes, and paisley or flower prints. To quote the great Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada: “Flowers for spring. Shocking.”

To collect a few of this season’s must-have looks, you don’t have to look far. We visited the gorgeous new shop, Glam Box Boutique on Miller Road in Flint Township and found exactly what we were looking for!

The items shown here can not only incorporate the trends, but can actually outlast them. Try not to dive in head-first when looking for trendy items. Bell bottoms and embroidered jeans will be out just as fast as they came in, but a flowy top and brown wedge sandals will have longevity. Speaking of longevity … this amazing, high-low full skirt in sunny yellow was such a “wow” item, we couldn’t help but feature it. It’s a classic silhouette with a twist, and the full skirt gives the illusion of a smaller waistline, which is flattering on almost anyone.

So, while you’re pulling out the grill, prepping your garden and packing the cooler, give your closet some attention and let your style bloom this season.
