My team was surprised that I approved the cover art for this month’s issue – with so many facing difficult circumstances during the holidays, I thought a little warm & fuzzy was in order.
It’s the season of giving, and if you want to help those in need, our “Give Local” guide has ideas. My City is hosting a donation drive for Shelter of Flint at local Tropi Tan salons. If you’re able, give til it hurts!
For many Greater Flint residents, giving knows no season. They give of themselves to make their communities better. One such person is profiled in our “My Community” feature – Kitty Moeller, the 2018 Libby Award recipient. Also featured is Maestro Enrique Diemecke, who is celebrating 30 years of giving our community the gift of music with the Flint Symphony Orchestra. I’m honored to have served the Flint Institute of Music for nearly two decades, and to call this supremely talented man a friend.
We’ve found many interesting stories about people who “find their calling” in life. Be sure to read about superhero Carmen-Ainsworth teacher, Jessyca Mathews. So impressive! And, who knew that there is a school in Mid-Michigan where they teach you how to be Santa Claus?
