Dear Readers,

Spring has officially sprung … and it’s no surprise that as I write this, another snowfall is in the forecast!

While everyone in the Mitten is happy to be blessed with some sunshine and warmer weather, we all know that yard work will soon be calling … but, that’s the beauty of living in a state that has seasons. Every April, we feature a Home & Garden section – a little inspiration with a focus on local groups like edible flint and Happy Little Greens Farm. Nothing like great greens!

This is a season of renewal, and renewal of our spirit is something many of us are seeking these days. Personally, I’m inspired by so many MCM stories, and I hear every day from readers who are also moved by the giving spirt of others. In our My Outreach spotlight is Young Life, a group of mentors who provide spiritual guidance to area teens and are receiving support from sources including The Hagerman Foundation. The Greater Flint community knows how to step up, and we’re always happy to write about it.

We never seem to run out of Arts and Music stories to feature – this month, we highlight Art at the Market, celebrating 15 years of showcasing the works of local artists; and a fledgling indie rock band, Steppes. My Sports features are super-popular – check out the piece on Joey Spencer of Linden, an 18-year-old boxer now making a big name for himself as a professional. Many of our best stories come from reader suggestions; we welcome yours.

One of our most-read monthly features is My Eats, and the sandwich pictured definitely makes me hungry! We profile Hoffman’s Deco Deli & Café, making great food and giving back to Flint. Our History pieces are also widely-read – this month, we have Part 1 of the History of the Flint Cultural Center … stay tuned for an exclusive story on its future!

There’s lots more in this issue from our great contributing writers, and our subscribers also received the spring issue of Wellness, offering many other topics of interest with a local connection. You can find it at Barnes & Noble, as well – but it sells out fast, so I suggest taking advantage of our “12 for $12” subscription.

Spring is here, Greater Flint is ready to come alive and My City will be there!
