Flint Trading Co. to Feature Award-Winning Sculptor During ARTWALK

0

Flint Trading Co. in Downtown Flint is featuring the fascinating and complex work of award-winning and nationally recognized sculptor Mark Beltchenko at Friday’s ARTWALK. This solo show should not be missed. This Detroit area artist weaves ever deepening layers upon layers of stories in carved stone, steel and wood. Meticulous in detail and dialogue, his work serves as a meditation on our current lives and political hypocrisies. If you do not immediately recognize the discourse, that’s okay, just allow yourself to linger a while. Beltchenko is a quiet man who’s work tells the stories on his behalf.

The public opening of this show titled “too heavy to float” can be viewed from 6-9pm during ARTWALK. You can tour the gallery and meet the founder of this unique concept in art galleries.

Flint Trading Co., an art gallery and boutique, features well-curated, artist-made goods by local and regional artists and specializes in custom jewelry and metalwork by Flint Trading Co. founder, artist Walter Robert McAdoo.

Flint Trading Co.’s concept stresses the importance of making good art accessible; so, many of the featured artists offer limited production pieces for sale on a permanent basis that complement their show featured pieces.  Detroit artist, Clinton Snider, who has work in the collections at the DIA, is also featured at the gallery alongside other artists such as jeweler and millinery artist Brianna Kenyon whose hats have been featured in multiple films including The Hunger Games.
