Flannel and Fur

Some new and exciting things are happening in Southern Genesee County, especially for outdoor enthusiasts!

A group of citizens formed the LAFF (Linden, Argentine, Fenton and Lake Fenton) Pathways Coalition and are working to make their vision of the development, funding and construction of non-motorized trails and pathways to connect their communities, a reality. The trails will provide more recreational opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts in Southern Genesee County.

The group has been busy raising the necessary funds for the endeavor and held its first fundraising event Flannel and Furs on January 27 at Red Fox Outfitters in Fenton. Attendees received an exclusive look inside Red Fox Outfitters, one of Fenton’s newest businesses and also enjoyed appetizers from area restaurants. The festivities later moved across the street to the Fenton Hotel Tavern & Grille for dinner. More than 90 people attended the fundraiser.

According to Lisa Wismer, a member of the steering committee, it was a huge success. “We raised more than $9,300 and donations are still coming in!” she exclaimed. “We created awareness, excitement and had lots of fun.” For more information about LAFF Pathways or to donate, visit laffpathways.com.
