Applewood Estate Opens for the Season

The Charles Stewart Mott Applewood Estate, officially opened its doors for the season with a celebration from Thursday May 2 through Sunday May 5. This four-day celebration features tours of the Estate house, starting at 11:30am each day; walking garden tours, starting at noon each day; a taste of Applewood, Storytime at Applewood, starting at 11:30am on Friday, followed by fun, hands-on activities and a Friday Bring Your Lunch & Learn starting at noon. Admission is Free!

Charles Stewart Mott built Applewood in 1916 as a family home and gentleman’s farm. Today, it’s a vital community resource open to all from May through October. In addition to an elegant home with an attached greenhouse, the 34-acre estate includes an apple orchard with 29 heirloom varieties, extensive gardens, a gatehouse, barn, and chicken coop. Applewood Estate is a Michigan Historic Landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites.
