Add your voice and support the Flint River!

On Thursday, January 30, the Flint River Watershed Coalition hosts their annual “Voice of the River” celebration. This year they are celebrating their 20/20 Vision for the Flint River and its watershed at Factory One from 6-9pm. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door for $30.

The celebration will look back at the history of the last 20 years of the river and look ahead to the next 20. What is in the works for the river? What would you like to see it become? After the presentation, there will be a raffle and auction. The night will be catered by Redwood Steakhouse.

During the evening, awards will be presented to those that have made a big difference for the Flint River Watershed. The S. Olof Karlstron IMPACT Award will be presented to Mr. Ridgway White, the Joe Leonardi LEADERSHIP Award will be presented to Ms. Leyla Sanker and the DR. Gary Pace VOLUNTEER of the Year Award will be presented to Ms. Molly Dellaire.

Attendees will also find out who the winner of the coveted GOLDEN GLOVES award will be. The GOLDEN GLOVES award is given to the person that finds the most unique or interesting item found in the river as voted upon by the public. In the running this year is a saw, barrel and recycling bin, antlers and a safe, a bird’s nest made of plastic, an ultrasound picture, shopping carts, and a toilet bowl. Good luck to all the found items and their owners!
