Thanksgiving Meals and Turkey Giveaways in Flint

Thanksgiving is a time of family, food and charity. For those in need organizations are there to help make Thanksgiving special. Starting today until Thanksgiving Thursday, turkey giveaways and free dinners are available. If you are lucky enough to be able to afford a dinner with all the trimmings this year, why not volunteer your time to make the day special for a local family.

 

Monday, Nov. 25

Morris Peterson Foundation

Starting at 5pm, the Morris Peterson Foundation in collaboration with the United Way will distribute 100 meal boxes to people in need at St. Marks Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3020 Dupont St.

 

Tuesday, Nov. 26

Catholic Charities

At Holy Angels Soup Kitchen, 517 E. Fifth Ave., bags of food, winter apparel and personal items will be distributed from 4-6pm.

 

Floyd and Brenda Clack’s 33rd Annual Thanksgiving Dinner

At Foss Avenue Baptist Church from 11am-1pm, the Clack’s will provide a full Thanksgiving dinner with all of the trimmings. No reservations are necessary and entertainment will also be provided.

 

Anthony Dirrell’s Annual Turkey Drive

Across from Civic Park School, 1401 Dayton St., boxer Anthony Dirrell will distribute turkeys to needy families starting at 1pm and continuing until all turkeys are gone.

 

Wednesday, Nov. 27

Salvation Army

From 4:30-6:30pm at Salvation Army Beecher Corps headquarters located at 1475 W. Coldwater Rd., the public is invited to attend a free pre-Thanksgiving dinner. The standard dinner will be provided, complete with holiday pies. Free bus rides to the event will be provided by MTA.

 

Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 28

Catholic Charities

From 11:30am-12:30pm, bags of food, winter apparel and personal items will be distributed at North End Soup Kitchen, 735 Stewart Ave.

 

International Academy of Flint

From 11am – 1pm, a free food box, clothing and personal items will be distributed until gone. Free bus and van transportation will be provided by MTA. Call 810.600.5261 for bus and van information.

 

McCree Theater

Low income and homeless families are invited to Thanksgiving dinner at the McCree Theater, located at 5005 Cloverlawn Dr. To reserve a spot at dinner, call the McCree Theater at 810.787.2200. Space is Limited.

 

Lincoln Park Community Church

Thanksgiving Dinner will be served at Lincoln Park Community Church, 742 Neubert Ave., from 12pm-1:30pm. If you plan on attending this dinner, please reserve a free ticket by calling 810.931.4208.

 

The Barn, Fenton

This year McFall’s Collision and The Barn in Fenton are teaming up to provide a free Thanksgiving dinner to the community. The dinner will run from 11am-2pm.
