Believe it or not, October has nearly come and gone. Before the month dances away completely, the 13th Annual Tapology Dance Festival is set to commence this weekend, October 23-25.

The most anticipated event of the weekend is of course the Tapology Concert that takes place at The Whiting on Sunday evening at 7 pm. The concert is open to the public for $25 a ticket. Tickets can be purchased in advance here.

The concert will incorporate Tap, African and Hip-Hop artists along with Tapology’s Youth Ensemble.

The concert is Tapology’s largest fundraising endeavor with a portion of every ticket sold helping to support arts and dance instruction for youth throughout Michigan.

In addition to the concert, Tapology has an entire weekend devoted to all things dance. Students of Tapology will have the opportunity to participate in dance classes all weekend long.

On Saturday afternoon, there will be an Honoree Luncheon – an opportunity for Tapology students and faculty to not only get to know one another, but also to honor the 2015 living legend, Kevin Ramsey. Kevin is a multifaceted actor and entertainer whose stage credits include Broadway shows such as “The Lion King,” in which he played the role of Mufasa.

The three-day weekend offers a jam-packed schedule of different tap dance activities including classes from the masters, lectures, luncheons and competitions. The weekend culminates with the Tapology Concert put on by both students and masters. The weekend is hosted by Flint Institute of Music, Flint’s Cultural Center and The Whiting.
