Share Art Genesee Awards $440,000 to County Organizations

Share Art Genesee, a program created by the Greater Flint Arts Council (GFAC), recently awarded 24 county art organizations with grants totaling $440,000. The grant award amounts ranged from $27,000 to $2,044.

The Share Art Genesee program was made possible by arts, education and cultural enrichment funds, a millage passed by voters in 2018 to benefit Flint art and cultural institutions. Through the 10-year millage, GFAC is awarded $500,000 to distribute to art organizations in the county.

The Grant Recipients are: African American Drum and Dance ($27,000), Buckham Fine Arts Project ($27,000), Clio Cast and Crew ($27,000), Clio Center for the Arts ($25,967), El Ballet Folklorico ($27,000), Fenton Arts Council ($4,500), Fenton Arts & Council Commission ($7,700), Fenton Community Orchestra ($27,000), Fenton Village Players ($27,000), Flint Children’s Museum ($27,000), Flint Community Players ($27,000), Flint Hand Made ($4,000), Flint Public Art Project ($24,000), Genesee County Historical Society ($21,000), Grand Blanc Arts Council ($3,500 for operations and $3,500 for cultural planning), Jazz on Wheels ($4,000), Red Ink Studios ($24,750), Shop Floor Theatre ($27,000), Swartz Creek Area Art Guild ($24,000), Swartz Creek Fine Arts Association ($4,800), and Whaley Historical House ($27,000).
