“From the Publisher” – March 2016

Dear Readers,

One never knows what to say about March in Michigan … I don’t want to jinx anything, but although we had a fairly mild winter – ENOUGH, already!

On that note, spring is always the time when we get excited about big events coming up – like weddings! This is our third annual bridal issue, featuring local service providers, as well as great human interest pieces including “Real Weddings.” So much great content we couldn’t fit it all in the magazine; check out our web exclusives!

We’re very excited about the My City Four Seasons of Bliss Bridal Event! It’s happening on March 19 at Sloan*Longway. We are so proud to partner with one of Flint’s most unique wedding venues to offer a top-notch bridal show. Our inaugural event will include 30+ vendors (as of this printing) who will be exhibiting their products and services. It will be affordable, memorable and definitely worth attending for any bride with a Big Day in her future.

While the focus is on weddings this month, we also continue the variety of high-quality content you’ve come to love and expect from our publication: Eats, Arts, Music and people, plus our great monthly columnists. There are always positive things about Greater Flint to fill our pages.

Highlighting Women’s History Month, we asked a group of successful local businesswomen to chat with us about their entrepreneurial spirit, their inspiration and achievements, and how they give back. I’m proud to feature these women in our magazine – it’s really good reading!

Irish pride is alive and well in Flint! For most of us, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day is about having fun; but for many folks, it has much deeper meaning. MCM spoke with some of them about their thoughts on the holiday (and we caught the action at their annual celebration, of course!)

Finally, we have many pages of photos from recent area “happenings.” My City invests great resources to be present at as many events as possible, capturing City-zens giving back to their community in big ways and small – from furry friends and aspiring artists, to many needy kids and important annual observances, MCM is there.

Thanks for reading Greater Flint’s No. 1 magazine!
