FLINT – Mott Children’s Health Center and Genesee Health System (GHS) are pleased to announce that they are collaborating to co-locate portions of Genesee Health System’s Child & Family Services program within the Mott Children’s Health Center building to enhance the delivery of behavioral health care to children in the Genesee County area.

The Mott Children’s Health Center provides medical, dental and limited behavioral services to eligible children in Genesee County, while Genesee Health System is the public mental health provider for the county. This collaboration represents a powerful combination of skills to meet the healthcare needs of area children and will offer easier referrals between organizations, resulting in better service care and treatment for children and families. Co-locating helps to increase accessibility for the community and individuals seeking services and provides integrated health care that will further help in reducing negative perceptions surrounding seeking mental health services.

“Our collaboration with GHS allows the Health Center to continue to expand the scope and reach of our services while helping families connect to much needed behavioral health services in a family friendly environment,” said Todd Wiseley, President and CEO of Mott Children’s Health Center. “GHS is pleased to join with Mott Children’s Health Center to meet the complete healthcare needs of area children. We know that when mental health is available at the same location as physical health care, families are better able to coordinate the complete care that their families need,” said Danis Russell, CEO of GHS.

GHS began offering these services at Mott Children’s Health Center at 806 Tuuri Place, Flint, in mid-October.
