Here’s what’s happening in Genesee County on Memorial Day.

 

 

Burton Memorial Day Celebration and 5K Run/Walk

Enjoy this Memorial Day Celebration featuring a Kids Fun Run, the Burton Memorial Day 5k Run/Walk, the Burton Mile Race, a parade starting at 2 p.m., children activities, live music, food vendors, a Memorial Ceremony at Veteran’s Memorial Park starting at 6pm followed by a 9:15pm Candle Light Ceremony and a Fireworks Display at dusk.

 

Davison Memorial Day Ceremony

A Memorial Day Ceremony will take place at Davison City Hall at 11am.

 

Fenton Memorial Day Parade

The Fenton Memorial Day Parade begins at 10am in Downtown Fenton on LeRoy Street in honor of veterans and those fighting overseas.

 

Holly Memorial Day Parade

The Holly Memorial Day Parade will begin at 10am, commencing on the corner of S Saginaw and E Maple Streets. The Parade will head East on Maple Street then travel North on Park Avenue. Once reaching Lakeside Cemetery, a ceremony will take place.

 

Linden Memorial Day Parade and Community Picnic

Join the Linden VFW’s 70th annual Memorial Day Services including a parade and a Community Picnic. Sign the Patriot Wall at 9:30am at the VFW Hall. Parade and Services at 10am from Downtown Linden to Fairview Cemetery. Following the parade, the City of Linden will host the annual community picnic of hot dogs, chips, pop, water and ice cream. There will be a concert at the Linden Gazebo featuring patriotic and pop/rock music.

 

Memorial Day Ride of the Genesee County Memorials/Cemeteries

Grand Blanc American Legion Post 413, 375 E Grand Blanc Rd, Grand Blanc beginning at 9am. The public is welcome! This will be a visit to three local Memorials ending at the Great Lakes National Cemetery. The ride starts and ends at the American Legion Post 413 located off of Grand Blanc Rd., just west of South Saginaw Street near the Big Boy and Post Office. We will ride to the Vietnam Memorial at Blue Bell Beach, then to Downtown Flint to visit the 9/11 Memorial at Mott Community College. We will then ride to Burton and visit Flag Park Veterans Memorial and eventually end up in Holly at the Great Lakes National Cemetery. Each stop will be approximately 15 minutes and the entire ride will be around three hours. We would like everyone to ride the entire ride to honor our heroes on this very special day. No charge for this ride but donations for Legion Charities will be accepted.

 

Montrose Memorial Day Ceremony

A brief ceremony of remembrance will take place at the Vietnam War Memorial in Montrose, (at the corner of Ocean View and Honolulu Avenue) at 7:45am to honor those who have given their lives in military service to our country.

 

Mt. Morris Memorial Day Parade

The annual Mt. Morris Memorial Day Parade is presented by the Kiwanis Club of Mt. Morris. The parade line-up begins at 9am with the parade beginning at 10am. The route will begin at Saginaw Street from the North City Limits to the South City Limits — one mile in length.
