Hurley Medical Center to Host 1st Annual Senior & Caregiver Workshop

Flint, Michigan – SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12th FROM 8AM to 3PM at the HOLIDAY INN GATEWAY CENTRE. The Hurley Senior Center of Excellence at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, along with the Valley Area Agency on Aging are proud to host a Senior Caregiver Workshop Saturday September 12th from 8am to 3pm at the Holiday Inn Gateway Centre on Hill Road/US23 in Flint. This Free Event will provide information to help caregivers keep their loved ones safe, happy and healthy.

The workshop will provide expert information on Alzheimer’s Disease, Advance Directives, Caregiver Stress, Bath & Bathing tips, proper lifting techniques, when & how to choose a care facility, and avoiding scams that target seniors. Those who attend will also be able to ask questions to a Pharmacist and Physician. Carl Bekofske, a local attorney, will speak about how seniors can protect their nest egg. Dr. David Hall will deliver the Keynote Address titles “Coping, Caring, Connecting”

“As our population ages, we really see a need to give caregivers more support. When caring for a loved one, it can be a tough journey emotionally, physically, and financially. We want to be here for the caregivers to show them there is help out there, to ultimately help them give the best care for their loved ones,” said Cathy Metz, Hurley Senior Center of Excellence and Musculoskeletal Service Line Administrator.
