From the PublisherWellness Fall 2019

Dear Readers,

You have to admit – fall in Michigan is a beautiful season. There’s still time to enjoy outdoor sports and festivals, and be grateful for those last sunny days of “sweater weather.”

This issue has an “all things senior” theme. Around 48 million people in the U.S. are age 65 or older, and the increased availability of health information has, of course, contributed to the growth of the senior population. And none of us is getting any younger, right?

Information is key to enjoying better health, and it’s seemingly available everywhere you turn. While you can get online to read about a health topic on WebMD, our articles on wellness issues are contributed by Greater Flint health care professionals who graciously share their expertise. They are right here in your community. This month, the variety includes information about an incurable disease that is in the news almost every day – Alzheimer’s disease. We have articles on the science behind it, as well as advancements in treatment and an early warning sign you might not know about. Other topics include senior nutrition, stroke prevention, navigating Medicare, scientific theories behind the aging process, and much more.

We also announce the winners of the 2019 Wellness Awards. Our thanks to all of our readers who voted for the local professionals and facilities they acknowledge and appreciate as providers of excellent health care and services.

If you are not a My City Magazine subscriber and enjoy the articles in this publication, you can get a yearly subscription that includes the quarterly issues of Wellness for just $12 – a 60% savings! It makes a great holiday gift, too. Visit mycitymag.com today … and thanks for reading.
