Would you consider renting a beautiful piece of art to display in your home or business? The Art Sales & Rental Gallery located at the Flint Institute of Arts offers a great opportunity for local art lovers to rent paintings and prints for just that purpose – and at a low cost.
“It’s the only place in town where you can walk out with a great piece of art for five bucks,” says volunteer, Trish Zito-Smith. Rental fees vary, but are inexpensive compared with the value of the artwork. Pieces can be rented for a month or longer. “If you decide you want to buy it, the first three months’ rental goes toward the purchase price,” adds Trish.
An arm of the FIA’s Founders Society, the gallery offers unframed prints and original paintings, which are created mostly by Michigan artists. Each month, artists are invited to bring in different pieces for a volunteer jury’s consideration in the gallery. A special section of the Rental Gallery highlights a featured artist, showing several pieces from that person’s collection. Pottery, cards, artistic print tiles, and blown glass are a few other things you can find for sale there.
The Art Sales & Rental Gallery is open from 10am-5pm Tuesday through Friday, 11am-3pm on Saturday, 1pm-5pm on Sunday, or by appointment.
